Biography
Christina “Tina” Carroll is the president and owner of Carroll & Company Communications, LLC. Carroll & Company is a consulting and creative services firm specializing in health and education communication for small businesses, government agencies and nonprofit organizations. Tina has operated Carroll and Company for more than 30 years as a writer, producer, and consultant. Clients have included: SSM Healthcare, ARCH Air Medical, UpSwing Performance Improvement, Aurora Healthcare, People Resources, General American, Mercantile Bank, the St. Louis Science Center, the US Department of Agriculture and the United States Marine Corps. Currently, Tina is consulting and providing internal communication counsel for organizational change management for Monsanto.
Tina has been in the communications business for more than thirty years. Over the course of her career, she has worked in corporate communications, public relations, marketing and organizational development managing multi-million dollar budgets in corporate and agency settings. Earlier in her career (1989), Tina worked as a staff reporter and producer at PBS affiliate, KETC, Channel Nine. While at Channel Nine, Tina co-produced a weekly arts magazine program. She also produced program segments, public service announcements, station promotions and documentaries for which she received Emmy nominations.
In 1998, Tina went to work at Magellan Health Services as a communications consultant for behavioral health provider stakeholders. Through her 10 year tenure at Magellan, Tina was promoted to manager, then director of Provider Communications and then to director of Member and Marketing communication. During her tenure at Magellan, Tina also earned her Accreditation in Public Relations.
In 2010, Tina joined Banyan Communications, a marketing communications company specializing in developing and executing effective communications strategies for government healthcare and nonprofit organizations. In this role, Tina served as project director on multi-year, multi-million dollar accounts with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention managing a team that provided integrated communications consulting and support for communities across the country to promote chronic disease prevention. In addition, Tina was the lead PR consultant for Banyan and all of its non-profit clients.
Tina is passionate about education and lifelong learning. She holds a Master of Social Work from St. Louis University and a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. She is an Accredited Public Relations (APR) professional and has served as an adjunct professor teaching communication courses at Maryville University, Lindenwood University and St. Louis Community College at Forest Park.
A member of the St. Louis PRSA chapter for more than 15 years, Tina has served as program chair, and accreditation chair.
